Prepsters will gain the academic knowledge and develop the character necessary to advocate for themselves, their families, and their community in the pursuit of making a better New Orleans and the world.
MISSION
Our mission statement’s creation was guided by Martin Luther King, Jr.’s definition of the purpose of education:
“The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically . . . Intelligence plus character–that is the goal of true education.”
~ Martin Luther King Jr.

We always try our best and never give up.
TEAMWORK
We always work and grow together.
OUR UNIQUE PROGRAM
Foundation Preparatory Charter School was built and founded by Head of School, Myrialis King. Mrs. King, with the support of the national organization Building Excellent Schools and Foundation Prep’s founding Board, wrote and defended the School’s charter application to both Orleans Parish School Board (OPSB) and the Recovery School District (RSD). Foundation Prep’s applications were authorized by both OPSB and the RSD – making Foundation Prep the first school to be authorized by both entities in Louisiana’s history!
We continue to create history in our city, knowing that we cannot just tell our children to be leaders, but we must first lead the way for them. We are passionate about our students and school model, and are committed to being the leaders that we have all been looking for – teaching our children by example.
